The days of June are clipping by and a decision will be made shortly by the owners about taking down the farm and selling the land to a developer. Losing another gorgeous farm makes me sad regardless. The prospect of losing our bunnies' home makes me sad too. This has been the bunnies' year round home while the island is for short visits during warmer months, like a summer camp.
Don't worry: The bunnies won't be homeless. We have a short window to transition out.
And because the rabbits don't live at the Peacebunny Cottage and neither do we, We'll just find another site. Any sale/development of the farm will take some time, allowing us time to find our next site.
Our plans for financing for their new significantly higher price have come up short, so without a miracle, this sale isn't happening for us. My journey to getting the island has made me see that closed doors are sometimes the best thing in the end although painful in the moment. Although, I'm still hoping for some miracle in the next week... 1) to save this farm 2) to keep it as our host property. Then we will be able to fix up the building rather than being worried about needing to leave.
We are so grateful that we have been able to use the farm for several years! Yet the owners need to sell the property and a developer's deal is currently on the table. We wish the owners only the best --- because they need the money from this sale, so no, I'm not hoping that the deal falls through. COVID has made things really hard for their company and this would give them cash flow.
That being said I AM PRAYING for an out of the box, God-sized miraculous different option that allows us to stay. That we can make this a perfect place for our rabbits. We have been looking over the past year for "just in case" to figure out a quick exit strategy for our animals if it comes to that... But if any of you are praying people, please join us. We would love to stay. Do this right.
Another chapter in our life's little book is about to happen. I trust it's going to be amazing and just what the Peacebunnies need. They're God's bunnies and we just get to take care of them. www.PeacebunnyIsland.com
